Eight Niche Dating Sites You Didn't Know Existed

1. Animal Attraction - ever go on a date only to bring someone home who then recoils at the sight of your cat? This site might be for you if your pet is one of the most important relationships in your life. Not to be confused with Beastforum, a message board for zoophiliacs, people who really love their pets (you know, in that way).
2. Geek 2 Geek - where geeks can find each other. But what about all the mixed geek/non-geek couples? I guess you could sign up if you're a geek fetishist.
3. Tall Dates - this site should be listed in the dictionary under "niche dating site." It's for tall gay men who prefer other tall gay men. As if everyone on the internet isn't already 6 feet tall!
4. Prescription for Love - helping people with "special conditions" to find love. What might these "special conditions" be? Well, the site lists them for you, and they include: HIV, cancer, deafness, irritable bowel syndrome, and alcoholism (to name a few).
5. FitKiss - dating site for athletes and outdoor activity enthusiasts. I wonder if users have the option of describing their bodies as "bbw" or "a few extra pounds"?
6. LDS Mingle - it took me a minute to decipher LDS - it's a hip way of saying "Latter Day Saint." A success story on the front page says: "We met on this site in the chat room in August of 2004 and married two months later!"
7. Wealthy Men - ladies, are you an unabashed gold digger but think you're too good to be an escort? This site might be for you! Guys, are you a nineteen year old who reports his income as $2 million a year? This site might be for you!
8. Smoke Free Singles - if being a non-smoker is your most important defining characteristic, this site might be for you. Not merely satisfied with checking off "non-smoker" on your profile? Come on over!

My all-time favorite is this one:
http://www.nolongerlonely.com/
A dating site for the mentally ill. If my experience was any indicator, Nerve.com already had that market cornered, but I guess the difference is that these people actually cop to their nuttiness.
