The joys and horrors of dating a sex professional

Ah, dating. Challenging and awkward for pretty much anyone, but the difficulty quotient for finding a partner is increased for people who work in a sex-related job.

But what about when you get past the early stages of dating, complete with descriptions of what exactly it is that you do, plus boundary setting conversations for good measure? Is this different for porn performers than it is for sex therapists?

That's what Inara de Luna of the Temple of the Red Lotus in Atlanta, GA is trying to find out. As part of her research for an article and a workshop on how to be in relationship with a sex professional, she's conducting a survey entitled Effects on Mate of a Sex Professional (which you can take by clicking that link). She says that the idea came from interviewing people for her sex priestess training program, during which she discovered that, "Many spouses have different feelings about their mates' work." From jealousy to misunderstandings to full support (as well as unexpected in betweens), it'll be interesting to see what Inara discovers.
