Counterfeit Condom Alert

trojan22count.jpg

This past week a crew of eight people was busted for operating a counterfeit goods ring out of a Queens warehouse. Among the objects counterfeited are Trojan condoms, which have been sold in discount stores in the New York metro area and have ventured as far as Virginia and Texas.

From a Newsday article on the bust:

The packaging of the Chinese condoms is almost identical to the legitimate ones, except that the counterfeit packaging is plastic, while the legitimate product is packaged in aluminum foil, said another source familiar with the investigation. "They [the counterfeiters] spent all their money on printing," said the source.

It's not certain whether the condoms were of inferior quality to their authentic counterparts or not. So inspect your Trojan packaging if that's a brand you use!

Um, if I was going to counterfeit something, I don't think it would be condoms....

Selling expired or dried-out ones, I can see that. But if I'm going to work hard, why not do $20s? Or $100?
