Stripping that is! In my years in the trade, I've worked both in clubs, and as an outcall ("in house") stripper, and there are pros and cons to both, so I thought I'd discuss them, just in case anyone out there is considering a career in the business.
In Clubs vs. "In House":
Without a doubt, the biggest advantage to working in a club is safety. Most clubs are safer than working in someone's house as a general rule. Legal clubs have security, in the form of bouncers, management, and the sheer number of people in attendance. Many have a pre-set distance customers have to be from the dancers and no touching rules. One does not have such things when working in house, or at least not with anything backing it up like a looming group of bouncers. Also, when working in a club, you often have the benefit of a set and location, rather than running all over the place to work. In house strippers can have truly grueling nights- I've done several shows in three different states in a single day. You are also slightly less likely to be aggressively and incessantly propositioned and questioned about your personal and/or sex life, or have it assumed that you will also fuck for money.
owever, there are some pretty serious advantages to be found in working in house, perhaps the biggest being the money. Working in house, there are no stage fees, no drink quotas, no hustling the guys to buy lap/private/shower dances, things of that nature. If you are truly an independent contractor, you set your own fees and keep everything you make. Even if you're with an agency and paying out commissions off your base fee (which can generally be anywhere from 25-75%), the money that can be made is a little mind-boggling. You also have more leeway as far as setting your own rules, choosing your own music, making your own schedule and having your own style. You also generally only answer to one boss (yourself or agency owner), and thus do not have bartenders, wait staff and dj's expecting a cut of your hard earned cash or managers up in your face about anything. You also, unless working with another dancer(s) for a two or more girl show, do not have to often deal with other dancers!
In house shows can be raunchier than anything you'd ever see in a club…but I'm not sure if I consider that a pro or a con! It's also been my experience that the atmosphere of being with an agency and working as an outcall dancer is a bit friendlier. When needing sick or vacation time, it's not been a problem, there is very little fighting about money or other shit between the dancers. I've never had anything (from cash to costumes) stolen. Which is why, even with the less safe aspect of in house dancing, my lone wolf self prefers it. It's a trade I'm willing to make, but I understand why other dancers aren't.
