Doodles -- it's what happens to the Google logo when certain holidays strike. They began in 1999 (as a little joke from the founders announcing their trip to Burning Man), and have since become something of a fixture for search users.

Today, Google's homepage is an explosion of balls. We're not quite sure what it's about (hey, that's OK, neither does TechCrunch), but we're obsessed at almost Pac-Man levels.
