GrappleDen: Underground Erotic Wrestling Club

Grappling -or wrestling, to the eyes of commoners- is both an art and a sport, though it gets its share of bad press and mockery. Female wrestling in particular gets the short end of the stick. Lady wrestlers like the Doom Maidens, who train other female wrestlers, harness the power of their sexuality and athleticism to do fetish wrestling and mixed (man vs woman) matches. The niche they fill has an interesting balance of sexy and sporty, without being wholly in one camp or the other.

Naked City paid a visit to the GrappleDen party in Hell's Kitchen, where a mix of competitive, exhibition, fetish, and just plain fun wrestling matches take place one Wednesday night every month. They may have silly (and skin-baring) costume themes, but their training and enthusiasm for grappling is real.

Bondage Bed Design in Williamsburg

Furniture designer Sullivan Walsh crafts one of a kind pieces out of his studio in Williamsburg. He is also a bondage enthusiast. You can see where this is going, right?

After spending some time looking at bondage furniture online, he decided that the only way to get a classy, discreet piece of furniture that met his bondage needs was to make one himself.

In this episode of Naked City, we visit the workshop where all the magic happens.

SoHo Theater Stages A Stripper's History of the World

At the Culture Project in SoHo last week, Heather Woodbury's "The Last Days of Desmond Nani Reese: A Stripper's History of the World" ran for one night only as part of the Women Center Stage 2008 festival.

Woodbury, who is an 2007 OBIE Recipient for Ensemble Performance and a 2006 inaugural Spalding Gray Award, has crafted a one-woman performance that confronts high and low culture attitudes about sexuality and the sex industry. In this episode of Naked City TV, Woodbury talks a bit about her inspiration for the piece and it's characters, and we get a few glances at some pieces of the play.

The Porno Jim Show

Presenting: the first episode of Naked City TV, a video show about sexuality in New York and beyond.

This episode shines the spotlight on The Porno Jim Show, a live comedy act in which Porno Jim delivers the dirt on how to find good porn, offers up some of his faves, and supplies plenty of laughs with examples of some of the stranger porn available.

Some Porno Jim recommendations:
Fashionistas, the epic fetish porn that became a (non-pornographic) Las Vegas show
Five Hot Stories for Her, a gorgeous film by Erika Lust
Evil Pink, directed by and starring Belladonna (who Porno Jim names The Best Pornstar of All Time)
Slutty and Sluttier, totally over the top (even for porn)

And I would be remiss if I didn't provide the link to the full version of the Spanish Smurf porn that appears in this episode. See all five and a half glorious and strange minutes of it on RedTube.

In addition to being a self-appointed porn professor, Porno Jim is also a porn director. His debut was shot right here in New York and is called Hookin' Up.

The Porno Jim show happens every other Saturday at The Producer's Club Theater, 358 W. 44th St. at 9th Avenue. The next two shows are April 19th and May 3rd - doors open at 10, show is at 11. Tickets are $10.
